Women's Soccer Hosts No. 4 Duke on Friday Night

Cardinals host Blue Devils
LOUISVILLE, Ky. – Looking to build on the momentum from their 1-0 win over the Miami Hurricanes, the University of Louisville women's soccer team returns to Lynn Stadium on Friday, Sept. 29 at 7 p.m. for a key ACC matchup against the No.4 Duke Blue Devils. The Cardinals hold an overall record of 7-4-0 and are 1-2-0 in conference play.
Following her impressive performance in the victory over the Hurricanes, Emina Ekic continues to lead the scoring effort for the Cardinals. The standout freshman midfielder has recorded six goals and one assist for 13 points so far this season. Sophomore forward Allison Whitfield has tallied three goals and one assist on the season, while Alison Price and Brooklyn Rivers have each scored two goals apiece for the Cardinals.
In goal, redshirt freshman Gabby Kouzelos holds a 1.13 goals against average and has made 26 saves through 11 matches. With the win over Miami, Kouzelos logged her fourth shutout of the season.
Head coach Karen Ferguson-Dayes is in her 18th season with the Cardinals. She has led Louisville to four NCAA tournament appearances, including a Sweet 16 appearance in 2011.
SCOUTING DUKE
The fourth-ranked Blue Devils are currently riding a 10-match win streak and have recorded shutouts in six of their last seven contests. Duke boasts an overall record of 10-1-0 and is 3-1-0 in the ACC, falling only to the North Carolina Tar Heels in a 2-1 overtime heartbreaker.
Imani Dorsey leads the offensive charge for the Blue Devils, scoring eight goals and two assists for 18 points through 11 matches. Junior forward Kayla McCoy follows close behind, registering six goals and two assists.
Senior goalkeeper EJ Proctor holds a 0.47 goals against average and has amassed 21 saves through nine matches. Proctor has shutout three straight opponents and has recorded five shutouts on the season.
Robbie Church is in his 17th season as the head coach for the Blue Devils. He has led Duke to 13 NCAA Tournament appearances over the past 14 years, including two trips to the NCAA College Cup in 2011 and 2015.
