This week features Louisville native Lindsay Boling
Â
LOUISVILLE, Ky. -- Louisville native Lindsay Boling played at Louisville from 2006-09. Boling came to UofL after a standout prep career at Sacred Heart Academy. While at SHA, Boling was a four-time All-State selection and was named NSCAA and Gatorade Player of the Year in the state of Kentucky. Boling was the star in the Sacred Heart program, which was ranked as high as No. 2 in the nation among High School soccer programs.Â
Â
Boling wasted no time establishing herself during her freshman year with the Cards. She scored goals in each of the first two exhibition games at West Virginia and Nebraska. She then proceeded to tally the game-winner just 55 seconds into overtime of the season opener to lift the Cards to a win over Ohio. Boling would score three more times in the 2006 season to finish off a great freshmen season. The 2006 season would also mark the Cards' first NCAA Tournament trip in program history.
Â
In Boling's sophomore campaign, the Cardinals would again at advance to the NCAA Tournament. They would lost in the first round but that would not diminish the progress the program had made in the early 2000's. Boling finished the season with two goals and an assist and earn a spot on the Big East All-Tournament Team.Â
Â
As a junior, Boling led the Cards with six goals and finished the season tied for the team lead in points with 13. Although the Cards would fall early in the Big East Tournament to West Virginia, Boling's junior season proved to be a very successful one.
Â
Once again Boling led the Cards in scoring and points her senior season. Although Louisville would miss out on the NCAA Tournament again in 2009, Boling's time as a Cardinal would still prove to be a pivotal period in Louisville Women's Soccer history. The Cards earned their first two NCAA Tournament appearances and would appear numerous times in the national rankings throughout her time playing for UofL.Â
