Four Louisville Swimmers Advance to Finals After Day 1 Prelims at World Championships Trials

Comerford, Worrell, Harting and Albiero Earn Second Swims
The University of Louisville swimming team will send four swimmers into the finals after the first day of preliminaries at the 2017 U.S. Nationals & World Championship Trials which began today with competition ending on  Saturday, July 1 at the  IU Natatorium on the campus of IUPUI.
This meet will serve as the selection event for the USA National Teams competing at the 2017 FINA World Championships in Budapest, Hungary, the 2017 World University Games in Chinese Taipei, and the 2017 FINA World Junior Championships.

ACC Swimmer of the Year and NCAA Champion Mallory Comerford and Olympic gold medalist Kelsi Worrell are seeded first and third in the finals of the 100M freestyle. Comerford put up a 53.26 in prelims for the top seed and set a new meet record. Simone Manuel was second in 53.50 and Kelsi Worrell was third in 53.87, setting up a showdown for a blazing fast final.

 Zach Harting qualified fifth in the 200 fly with a 1:56.77. Chase Kalisz is the top qualifier in the event with a 1:55.60. Nicolas Albiero, youngest son of UofL head coach Arthur Albiero will swim in the B-final, qualifying 14th overall with a 1:58.98.

Once the meet is underway, results can be found here. Prelims will begin every morning at 9 AM EST, and finals will be at 6 PM.

- CSCAA All American Trevor Carroll posted a 50.16 in the 100M free.
- CSCAA All American Lainey Visscher boarded a 56.30 in the 100M freestyle.
- CSCAA All American Casey Fanz put up a 55.97 in the 100M free for 22nd.
- NCAA qualifier freshman Jarrett Jones went 2:01.39 in 200M Fly.
- CSCAA All American Grace Oglesby went 2:17.11 in 200M fly for 48th.
