Featuring former standout Hollie Minogue
LOUISVILLE, Ky. -- Louisville native, Hollie Minogue played at the University of Louisville from 2002-05. She chose to attend Louisville following a standout career at Assumption High School and with Javanon SC, where she won multiple State Championships and collected numerous individual accolades.
Minogue played in the midfield for Cardinals for four years and was instrumental in laying the foundation and culture for Louisville Women's Soccer. She helped elevate the program to a new level.
During her senior year, Minogue saw the Cardinals move Conference USA to the Big East, one of the top conferences for women's college soccer in the country at the time. The success Louisville had in their first season in the Big East would prove to be a cornerstone for years to come.
Despite having to step into a new conference, the Cardinals finished with a winning record in 2005. Louisville proved they could compete with some of the top teams in the country right away.
Minogue's time at Louisville will always be remembered as a turning point in the program's history. A time when the foundation for future Louisville teams was laid, leading to successes that were previously thought unattainable.
Today, Minogue currently resides in Louisville with her husband John Michael Hayden and their two sons. Hayden is the current men's assistant coach the University of Louisville.
Karen Ferguson-Dayes had this to say about Minogue:
"Hollie was one of the most charismatic and engaging young women that I have ever had the pleasure of coaching. She was a great competitor who played with a chip on her shoulder and helped lay the foundation for a positive team culture that would ultimately allow the Louisville women's soccer program to go on and do things it never had before."
