European standout Mollie Rouse will join the Cardinals in the fall
LOUISVILLE, Ky. – The University of Louisville head coach Karen Ferguson-Dayes has announced the signing of European standout Mollie Rouse for the 2017 women's soccer season.
"We are thrilled to add a player of Mollies caliber to our roster this fall," said Ferguson-Dayes. "She has extensive playing experience with England for both the under 17 and under 19 squads so her international playing experience will allow her to make a very smooth transition in to the college game. She is a central midfielder who is a tireless worker, an exceptional passer with excellent vision and she can both score goals and set up goals. We expect that Mollie will come in and add an attacking flair to our midfield right away."
The England native attended the Stratford upon Avon School while playing at the Aston Villa Centre of Excellence from 2011-15. She helped lead the Aston Villa Centre of Excellence U17 team to an undefeated championship in the 2014 season in the Centre of Excellence League. Rouse also helped the team win the same championship in 2015. The 5-3 attacking center-midfielder guided her team to a runner-up finish during the 2015 FA Youth Cup with the Aston Villa U17's.
Rouse also competed with the English Youth National team where she compiled four caps and two goals with the U15 team. Rouse added 23 caps and two goals with the U17 team as they brought home fourth place in the 2013 European Championship and a group stage appearance at the 2015 Championship. Rouse's 19 caps and five goals assisted the English Youth National Team in bringing the 2016 Northern Ireland International Cup Championship home. She also won the 2017 Elite Round Championship.
Rouse also won the Pride of Stratford Award for Young Achievers in 2014 and the 2012 and 2017 Stratford upon Avon Senior Sports Person of the Year awards.
