Louisville finishes with 12 wins and one school record to close out the Lenny Lyles/Clark Wood Invitational
LOUISVILLE, Ky. – The University of Louisville track and field teams wrapped up the Lenny Lyles/Clark Wood Invitational with a new school record, 12 wins and 23 top three finishes.
"We were fortunate to dodge most of the storms this morning and it turned out to be a great day for a track meet," said head coach Dale Cowper. "I was excited to put together a quality competition for our student-athletes at Cardinal Park during our final exams. Having the weekend off from traveling should pay off in the classroom. In the individual events, Halee Hudson, Kaleb Rowe, and Lilli Popovich had performances that really stood out to me today. All three of these students were excited to join our team two years ago from local Kentucky high schools and all three on now capable of performing at the All-ACC level and are on the cusp of advancing to the NCAA Championship."
Halee Hudson started off the day with a win for the Cardinals. She won the women's javelin with a person best throw of 43.57m/142-11. Emmonnie Henderson won the women's shot put for the second consecutive meet. She finished with a throw of 17.35m/56-11.25.

"The 4x400 meter relays closed out the day with tremendous energy," said Cowper. "I can't say enough about how our sprint squads have continued to evolve over the last three years. This group has a spirit and competitiveness that we simply didn't have a few years ago. They continue to put the work in and are seeing the results as their confidence grows."
The women's 4x400 meter relay team of Alexis Gibbons, Kelsey Heyward, Holly Hankenson and Gwen Shaw set a new school record with a time of 3:41.06.
