Track & Field Ready for Final Weekend of Regular Season

The Cards will be represented at four meets: the Don Kirby Elite Invitational, Heartland Invitational, Husky Classic, and Music City Challenge.
LOUISVILLE, Ky. – The University of Louisville track & field teams will split between four meets for their final weekend of the indoor regular season.
The Cards are set to be represented at the Don Kirby Elite Invitational, Heartland Invitational, Husky Classic, and Music City Challenge. All four meets will be contested over two days on Feb. 13-14.

DON KIRBY ELITE INVITATIONAL

The Louisville jumpers and pole vaulters will head to Albuquerque, N.M. for the Don Kirby Elite Invitational, which will be hosted by the University of New Mexico at the Albuquerque Convention Center.
Competition for the Cardinals will get underway on Friday at 4:00 p.m. ET with the A section of the men's pole vault, while the teams will also field athletes in the women's 200m, women's long jump, and men's long jump on the first day of competition. The weekend's events will all be streamed on FloTrack, which can only be accessed through a paid subscription.
The field in Albuquerque will feature five of the nine Cardinals that currently rank in the top 16 nationally in their respective events, putting themselves in position to potentially earn bids to next month's NCAA Indoor Championships.
Ashley Callahan and Iliana Triantafyllou both hold top-10 marks nationally in the women's pole vault, while Alba Cuns Iglesias (women's triple jump), Synclair Savage (women's long jump, and Roman Kuleshov (men's triple jump) also enter the competition looking to improve on their national positioning.

The Cards will return to the Indiana State Fairgrounds & Event Center for the third time this season when a group consisting of primarily throwers and sprinters heads up to Indianapolis, Ind. for the Heartland Invitational.
Friday's competition will get underway at 1:10 p.m. ET with the invitational section of the women's long jump while the women's 60m hurdles preliminaries will begin the day's track events at 2:30 p.m. ET.
Kaia Tupu-South will lead the way for the Cardinals, as she returns to the shot put ring looking to build on her ACC-leading mark of 17.05m (55-11.25) that also currently ranks as the 13th best mark in the NCAA this season.

A limited group of distance athletes will compete at the Husky Classic in Seattle, Wash., which will be hosted by the University of Washington at the Dempsey Indoor Facility.
The women's 3000m will kick off Friday's competition for the Cardinals at 5:45 p.m. ET, who will also be represented on Firday in the men's 3000m and men's 5000m.
Elsingi Kipruto headlines the Louisville entries to the meet, as the freshman will look to take advantage of a stacked field in the men's invitational 5000m and improve upon his program-record time of 13:29.37 that currently ranks 15thnationally.

The Cardinals will also compete at Vanderbilt's Music City Challenge for their fourth and final meet of the split weekend, where another contingent of distance runners will look to close the regular season strong.
The meet, which will take place in Nashville, Tenn. at the Vanderbilt Multipurpose Facility, will get underway for the Cards at 6:50 p.m. ET on Friday evening with the women's mile. The weekend's events will be televised on SEC Network+.
Brendan Ruggles will lead the charge in Nashville just one week after setting a new Louisville freshman record of 1:49.78 in the men's 800m at the Windy City Invitational.
