Breanna Braham tied her own women’s 400m school record, while Nancy Chepleting set a freshman record in the women’s 3000m.
The University of Louisville track & field teams began their final weekend of the regular season on Friday, splitting between the Don Kirby Elite Invitational, Heartland Invitational, Husky Classic, and Music City Challenge.

DON KIRBY ELITE INVITATIONAL

Ty McPhail kicked off the day's action at the Don Kirby Elite Invitational in Albuquerque, clearing a final bar of 5.31m (17-5) in the A section of the men's pole vault. The redshirt senior has now cleared the 17-foot barrier three times this season.

The Cards also got a pair of solid performances on the long jump runway, as Synclair Savage placed fourth for the women with a leap of 6.28m (20-7.25) and Miller Jones recorded a mark of 7.49m (24-7) on just three attempts.
Eve Divinity closed out the night in the women's 200m, clocking a massive personal-best time of 23.80 to move all the way up to third in program history and secure the ACC standard in the event.

Saturday's competition will begin for Louisville athletes at 12:00 p.m. ET with the onset of both the men's and women's long jump. The Cardinals are also slated to field athletes in the top section of the women's pole vault and the women's 60m.

HEARTLAND INVITATIONAL

At the Heartland Invitational in Indianapolis, Breanna Braham tied her own program record in the men's 400m from the PNC Lenny Lyles Invitational on Jan. 31 with a time of 54.82 to place third overall.

Demaria King continued her stellar start to her redshirt junior season, placing fourth in the invitational section of the women's weight throw after posting a mark of 19.30m (63-4), while Matt Giuliano rounded out the top five in the men's open weight throw with a toss of 18.13m (59-5.75).

Olivia Jenkins posted a season-best time of 7.52 to place sixth in the women's 60m finals after notching a preliminary time of 7.56.

The Heartland Invitational will roll on tomorrow morning at 9:30 p.m. ET with the women's open shot put, while the day's track events are set to get underway with the women's 200m at 12:20 p.m. ET.

HUSKY CLASSIC

Nancy Chepleting led the way for the Cardinals at the Husky Classic in Seattle, finishing as the runner-up in the open section of the women's 3000m with a time of 9:11.54 that moves her up to second in program history. The time also broke the previous Louisville freshman record of 9:18.88 that was set in 2018 by Dorcas Wasike.

Geoffrey Kirwa also moved up to second in program history in the men's 3000m by recording a personal-best time of 7:55.58 to become just the third Cardinal to break the eight-minute barrier in the event.

Ian Kibiwot closed out the night in the men's open 5000m, rounding out the top three with a time of 13:47.35 in just his second race of the season.

The second day of the Husky Classic will begin at 2:10 p.m. ET with the women's mile. The Cards will also be represented in the invitational section of the men's 5000m as well as the men's mile.

MUSIC CITY CHALLENGE

The Cards rounded out Friday's competition at the Music City Challenge in Nashville, as Temi Ariyo moved up to eighth in program history with a personal-best time of 4:49.94.

Gavin Rockwell also set a personal record in the men's mile for the second consecutive meet, crossing the line in 4:10.22.Â

Louisville will close out the Music City Challenge tomorrow afternoon with the men's 800m slated to at 4:55 p.m. ET.
