Cards had 24 records fall in historic season

The University of Louisville men's and women's swimming and diving teams Scelebrated their record-setting season at the 2017 Awards Banquet Sunday afternoon at the Brown-Williamson Room. In all, the Cardinals set 24 school records, 10 women's, 12 men's and two diving marks fell in the season that was highlighted by Mallory Comerford's NCAA National Championship swim.

Head coach Arthur Albiero, in his 14th year at the helm of the Cardinals program, gave out awards in 13 categories and recognized the NCAA teams and All-Americans.

Men's and Women's Freshman of the Year: Casey Fanz, Lainey Visscher, Grace Oglesby (three-way tie) and Etay Gurevich

Men's and Women's Ralph Wright Most Memorable Performance Award: Mallory Comerford, Marcelo Acosta

Men's and Women's Academic Awards: Caitlin Ahern, Paige Ezelle, Emily Moser. Nolan Smith, Jake Schultz, Grigory Tarasevich

Men's and Women's Cardinal Spirit Award: Alex Sellers, Matthias Lindenbauer

Men's and Women's Underclassmen Unity Award: Alina Kendzior, Andrej Barna

Men's and Women's Joseph Mittel Award: Andrea Cottrell, Trevor Carroll

Men's and Women's Cardinal Relay Award: 400-medley relay team (Mallory Comerford, Abigail Houck, Alina Kendzior, Andrea Cottrell) and the 400-medley relay team (Grigory Tarasevich, Carlos Claverie, Josh Quallen, Trevor Carroll

Men's and Women's Most Improved Award: Molly Fears, Christian Garkani

Men's and Women's Coaches Award: Josh Quallen, Abbie Houck

Men's and Women's Rick Hill Award: Mallory Comerford, Grigory Tarasevich
