18 Cardinals swim in Mesa Finals

The University of Louisville swimmers had 18 finalists at Day 2 of the Arena Pro Swim Series in Mesa Arizona. To highlight the evening, UofL's Joao De Lucca won silver in his signature event, the 200-meter freestyle.

In the finals of the 400-meter IM, Sophie Cattermole was the top Cardinal with a time of 5:04.75 for 26^th place. In the men's 400-meter IM, Etay Gurevich posted a 4:23.18 for fourth.

In the finals of the 200-meter freestyle, Kelsi Worrell went 2:03.47 to finish seventh. Nastja Govejsek was 24^th with a time of 2:07.53. Casey Fanz was 32^nd with a time of 2:07.55.

Joao De Lucca won silver in the finals of the men's 200-free, with a time of 1:49.51, dropping 1.10 seconds off his prelim time to gain the podium. Marcelo Acosta finished seventh with a time of 1:50.96, just ahead of eighth place Trevor Carroll's 1:52.01. Andrej Barna was 10^th in 1:52.20 and Zach Harting was 13^th in 1:53.16. Carlos Claverie was 20^th, boarding a time of 1:54.50.

Alina Kendzior placed ninth in the 200-meter back with a time of 2:17.52.

In the 50-meter freestyle finals, Kelsi Worrell was seventh with a 26.59. Lainey Visscher was 12^th, boarding a 25.72 and Casey Fanz was 14^th with a time of 25.94. Nastja Govejsek was 23^rd, clocking in at 26.44.

In the 50-meter freestyle finals, Joao De Lucca was 11^th, with a time of 22.96. Andrej Barna was 18^th with a time of 23.36. Trevor Carroll came in at 23.59.

In the men's 200-meter free, Marcelo Acosta qualified third with a 1:50.36. Joao De Lucca touched fifth in 1:50.61. Trevor Carroll was ninth, going 1:51.10 just ahead of 12^th place Andrej Barna (1:52.86). Zach Harting qualified 14^th, in 1:53.77 and Carlos Claverie was 18^th in 1:54.61.

In the 200-meter back, Alina Kendzior qualified 13^th in 2:19.14.

In the 50-meter freestyle, Kelsi Worrell qualified fourth in 25.69 just ahead of seventh place Mallory Comerford, who boarded a 25.80. Lainey Visscher was 14^th in 26.10 and Casey Fanz put up a 26.29. Nastja Govejsek was 23^rd, posting a 26.66. Alina Kendzior clocked in at 27.06 and Andrea Cottrell had a time of 27.51.

Joao De Lucca qualified ninth in the 50-meter freestyle with a time of 22.97. Andrej Barna was 18^th, with a time of 23.42. Trevor Carroll posted a 24.03.

In the 400-meter IM, Sophie Cattermole was 30^th in 5:08.58 and Silvia Guerra was 31^st in 5:09.10

Etay Gurevich qualified third in the 400-meter IM with a time of 4:22.84. Zach Harting was seventh in 4:33.06.
