Cardinals will participate in a community service project and play three matches
LOUISVILLE, Ky. – The University of Louisville women's soccer team will leave Saturday morning for a six day trip to Costa Rica. The Cardinals will play three matches, while also giving back to the community when they visit.
"I am incredibly excited about taking this group of student-athletes to Costa Rica," said head coach Karen Ferguson-Dayes. "This group is strongly connected and the trip will strengthen their bond both on and off the field. It is also a good opportunity to play three great teams."
Louisville will play its first of three matches on Sunday, March 12 against Dimas in San Jose at 6:00 p.m. The following day they will participate in a community service project in San Jose. They will volunteer for a center that helps children that live in extreme poverty in the area. The center provides healthy meals, education and emotional support for the children.
The Cards will face off against the U17 National team in a friendly match later that afternoon. On Tuesday, Louisville will travel to Pacific Beach and will have the day to acclimate to their new surroundings. The next day the Cardinals will face Liberia in the final match of the trip at 3:00 p.m.
On Thursday the team will enjoy a tour and some free time before heading back home on Friday.
