Volleyball Set to Host Wake Forest and Duke

Cards will conduct their postmatch Youth Clinic after Duke match on Sunday
LOUISVILLE, Ky. – The University of Louisville volleyball team continues ACC play this weekend. The Cards will take on Wake Forest Friday at 7 p.m. and Duke at 1 p.m. on Sunday at the KFC Yum! Center.
About the Cards: The Cardinals (5-7) are coming off a 0-2 weekend as they fell to Notre Dame and #15 Florida State. Louisville was swept by Notre Dame 25-15, 25-20, 25-14, and was able to take the Seminoles to four sets before taking a loss (26-24, 25-18, 25-23, 25-22).
Louisville is led by freshman outside hitter Melanie McHenry with 151 kills and 16 service aces while senior Janelle Jenkins and junior Tess Clark have each contributed 110 and 106 kills respectively. Sophomore Kali Eaken leads the team with 295 assists while senior Lyndsay Palmer has contributed 93.
About Wake Forest: The Demon Deacons (5-8) will make the trip to Louisville Friday night to take on the Cardinals at 7 p.m. Wake Forest is coming off a 1-1 week falling to Duke 3-1 and beating Virginia 3-1. Freshman Caroline Rassenfoss leads the Demon Deacons with 199 kills, closely followed by her counter-part, junior Kylie Long, who brings in 198. Rassenfoss also leads the team with 18 service aces. Junior Caroline Wolf leads the team in digs with 204 and a 3.85 digs per set average, while redshirt-junior Bailey Shurbet leads Wake with 417 assists and a 10.17 assist per set average.
About Duke: The Blue Devils (7-4) will make the trip to Louisville Sunday to play the Cardinals at 1 p.m. after a match with Notre Dame Friday. Duke is coming off a 2-0 weekend, beating Wake Forest 3-1 and Virginia 2-1. The Blue Devils are led by senior Jordan Tucker and freshman Jamie Stivers who bring in 123 kills and104 kills respectively. Stivers also leads the team with 15 service aces. Freshman Cindy Marina leads Duke with 432 assists and a 10.32 assist per set average. Senior Sasha Karelov is tops in digs at 198.
The Cardinals and coaching staff will hold a Youth Clinic after the Duke match for the first 200 kids (8th grade and under) who register at the marketing table on the main concourse and receive a wristband.
