
Women's Soccer Announces 2016 Fall Schedule

The Cardinals will play 13 games at Lynn Stadium
LOUISVILLE, KY. -- The Louisville women's soccer team announced its 2016 schedule highlighted by one exhibition and 12 regular season home matches at Dr. Mark and Cindy Lynn Stadium and matches against seven 2015 NCAA Tournament qualifiers, including two College Cup participants.
"Our 2016 schedule is very challenging and we are excited to get started," said head coach Karen Ferguson-Dayes. "We are committed to playing a demanding non- conference schedule as it can only help prepare us for the rigors of the ACC portion of the schedule. We feel that we have a great blend of regional and national opponents and we are excited to be at Lynn Stadium for 13 of those games. "
Coming off its second season in the ACC, the Cardinals will face another challenging schedule with seven of their 10 conference games coming against NCAA Tournament qualifiers. The home slate featuring matches against NCAA participants Boston College, Notre Dame, Clemson and Virginia.
Following two exhibition games at DePaul on Aug. 10 and at home against Morehead State on Aug. 13, the Cardinals will open the 2016 season at Indiana on Aug. 19 at 7 p.m.
The Cardinals will then kick off a seven-game home stand beginning with their home opener against Indiana State on Aug. 21 at 1 p.m. The Cardinals will host UAB on Aug. 26 at 5:30 p.m. as part of a doubleheader with the men's soccer team hosting their home opener against Butler at 7:30 p.m. Louisville will then face Toledo on Aug. 28 at 3 p.m.
After the annual Battle of the Bluegrass showdown against instate rival, Kentucky, on Sept. 2 at 7:30 p.m., the Cardinals will see visits from Harvard (Sept. 4), Ball State (Sept. 9), and Belmont (Sept. 11).
Louisville will begin conference play on the road as they face Pittsburgh on either Sept. 17 before travelling to College Cup participant Duke on Sept. 22. The Cardinals will then return home for the league home opener against NCAA Tournament participant Boston College on Sept. 25, kicking off a four game home stand.
The Cardinals will kick off October hosting Notre Dame (Oct. 1), NC State (Oct. 6), and Clemson (Oct. 9). Three straight road matches will follow with Louisville travelling to Virginia Tech (Oct. 15), Miami (Oct. 20) and Florida State (Oct. 23).
The Cardinals will wrap up their regular season slate with a match against Virginia on Oct. 30 at 7 p.m. at Lynn Stadium.
The top eight teams will advance to the ACC Championship, with quarterfinals set to begin on Oct. 30.
