June 26, 2016 | Swimming & Diving
Worrell is seeded second in the finals for the 100-fly on Monday night.
University of Louisville swimmer Kelsi Worrell breezed through her 100 fly semi-final heat boarding a 57.12 after putting up the second fastest U.S. time ever in the prelims (56.84) Sunday night at the U.S. Olympic Trials in Omaha, Neb.
Â
She will take on the eight swimmer field tomorrow night. The Top 8 for 100 fly final are: Dana Vollmer (56.90), Kelsi Worrell (57.12), Sarah Gibson (59.02), Cassidy Bayer (58.11), Kendyl Stewart (58.33), Hellen Moffett 58.46), WKU grad Claire (58.76) and Hali Flickinger (58.81).
Â
"I was really trying to be relaxed. It was my second best time ever, so I am excited to see where I am tomorrow. It will be hard to sleep tonight, but I am hoping I will be rested tomorrow and it is my first experience in the semi-finals," said Worrell.  "It is fun. There are so many awesome girls here. It is really rowdy here because we have a huge team here. I did the C-A-R-D-S cheer with them, which is my favorite thing. It calms me that they are all here for me cheering and supporting me. There is no pressure here. I just wanted to stay relaxed and see if I can put it together tomorrow."
