Solak Named to CoSIDA Academic All-District Team

Junior second baseman has 3.69 GPA in finance while hitting .432 with 10 doubles this season
LOUISVILLE, Ky. - Louisville junior second baseman Nick Solak was named Thursday to the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) Academic All-District Baseball Team for District 2.
The CoSIDA Academic All-District Teams recognize the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances athletically and in the classroom. First-team Academic All-District honorees advance to the CoSIDA Academic All-America Team ballot, where first-, second- and third-team All-America honorees will be selected later this month.
A native of Woodridge, Illinois and one of three team captains for the Cardinals (35-9) this season, Solak has a 3.69 GPA while majoring in finance. On the field, talented infielder is hitting .432 with 17 RBI, 10 doubles, 33 runs scored and nine stolen bases in 28 games. Last season, Solak was an All-ACC Academic Team selection and was named to the NCAA Louisville Regional All-Tournament Team as well as the ACC Championship All-Tournament Team.
To be nominated, a student-athlete must be a starter or important reserve with at least a 3.30 cumulative grade point average (on a 4.0 scale) at his current institution. Nominated athletes must have participated in at least 50 percent of the team's games.
The fifth-ranked Cardinals return to action Friday at 6 p.m., ET in the first game of a weekend series at No. 17 North Carolina.
