Cardinals finish the spring season with a 2-1-1 record
LOUISVILLE, KY. -- The Louisville women's soccer team wrapped up the spring season with a 2-1-1 record. The Cardinals finished the last two games at Lynn Stadium with a win over Miami (Ohio) and a tie with Ohio State.
Against the Buckeyes, the two teams played to a 90 minute scoreless tie on a chilly afternoon. Ohio State was able to keep the majority of possession in the first half but the Cards were able to defend well and keep Ohio State's dangerous scoring chances to a minimum.
In the second half, the Cards made some tactical adjustments that helped them become more dangerous in Ohio State's final third, which led to some scoring opportunities but they were unable to find the back of the net. Victoria Gabor and Taylor Bucklin shared time between the posts and helped the Cards earn the shutout.
In the final spring game of the seaosn, the Cardinals defeated the Redhawks 1-0 at Lynn Stadium on Thursday night. The Cardinals controlled the majority of the possession and had multiple scoring chances throughout the game. The Redhawks goalkeeper made some tremendous saves including one on a corner kick served in by freshman Callie McKinney and headed in the corner by freshman Gabrielle Vincent.
The Cards were finally able to seal the win in the 87th minute when Bridget Stewart found Kaela Dickerman making a run in the box to go one on one with the goalkeeper. Dickerman wasn't able to finish but the rebound landed at the feet of Isabella Gutierrez who calmly placed it in the back of the net.
Victoria Gabor and Taylor Bucklin shared the game, and helped record another shutout for the Cardinals.
