SPOTLIGHT SHINES BRIGHT AT LOUISVILLE BASEBALL SCOUT DAY
Scout Day for the University of Louisville baseball program has evolved into a popular, highly attended event during head coach Dan McDonnell's 10 seasons with the Cardinals. With McDonnell at the helm, 50 Louisville players have signed professional contracts after being selected in the Major League Baseball Draft, including seven earlier this year in the 2016 draft. Overall, 34 Louisville baseball alumni closed the 2016 season with MLB or MiLB teams, while a school record seven players made MLB appearances this year. With another talented class of professional prospects on the roster for 2017, McDonnell expects most of the 30 MLB clubs will have scouts in attendance on Friday to get an early look at this year's squad.
