
Women's Soccer Hosts Southeast Missouri State on Monday Night

LOUISVILLE, KY. - The University of Louisville women's soccer team will look to bounce back on Monday night when they host Southeast Missouri State at Dr. Mark and Cindy Lynn Stadium on Monday night at 7:30 p.m.
Louisville enters the match with an overall record of 1-2-1, coming off a 1-0 loss at Kentucky on Friday night. Three Cardinals lead the team in scoring with seniors Rachel Avant, Casey Whitfield, and Lexie Niedoba all scoring a goal and adding an assist for three points. Freshman Gabrielle Vincent and sophomore Victoria Martinis have also scored this season. Junior goalkeepers, Paige Brown and Taylor Bucklin, have both seen time in goal with the two combining for 15 saves.
Head coach Karen Ferguson-Dayes is in her 16th season with the Cardinals. She has guided Louisville to four NCAA Tournament appearances, including a Sweet 16 appearance in 2011.
SCOUTING SOUTHEAST MISSOURI STATE
Southeast Missouri State enters Monday's match with a 2-1-1 overall record. The Redhawks wrapped up their three-game home stand last weekend by splitting a pair of matches. The Redhawks defeated Evansville 1-0 last Friday before falling to Northern Colorado 1-0 on Sunday.
Angie Mann leads the Redhawks with two goals for four points. Three other players have scored for the Redhawks and have two points. Kindra Lierz leads the Redhawks in goal with a 0.95 goals against average and a 2-1-1 record.
THE SERIES
The series is tied at 1-1 between the Cardinals and the Redhawks. The last time the two teams met in Lexington, Kentucky, on Oct. 30, 2012, the Cardinals defeated the Redhawks 4-0. In the first meeting, Southeast Missouri State defeated Louisville at home, 3-1 on Oct. 3, 2003.
