
Women's Soccer Travels to Kentucky for the Battle of the Bluegrass on Friday

Cardinals continue two game road stretch at Kentucky on Friday Night
The University of Louisville women's soccer team will be back in action on Friday as they travel to Lexington, Ky., for the annual "Battle of the Bluegrass" against Kentucky at 7:30 p.m.
Louisville enters the matchup with an overall record of 1-1-1, coming off a 2-2 draw with Kent State last weekend. Three Cardinals lead the team in scoring with seniors Rachel Avant, Casey Whitfield, and Lexie Niedoba all scoring a goal and adding an assist for three points. Freshman Gabrielle Vincent and sophomore Victoria Martinis have also scored this season. Junior goalkeepers, Paige Brown and Taylor Bucklin, have both seen time in goal with the two combining for 12 saves.
Head coach Karen Ferguson-Dayes is in her 16th season with the Cardinals. She has guided
Louisville to four NCAA Tournament appearances, including a Sweet 16 appearance in 2011.
SCOUTING KENTUCKY
Kentucky enters Friday's matchup with an overall record of 3-1 after securing two shutouts last weekend against UNC-Greensboro and Toledo. The Wildcats also knocked off then-No. 20 Washington 1-0 in their season opener.
Junior Michaela Dooley leads the Wildcats with eight points (three goals and two assists) while senior Courtney Raetzman adds seven points (two goals and three assists). Freshman Goalkeeper Katelyn Jensen leads the team with a 0.51 goals against average and has recorded three shutouts this season.
Jon Lipsitz is in his seventh year as the head soccer coach at the University of Kentucky. Lipsitz currently owns a 176-79-19 career record after four years at UK and stops at Charlotte (59-24-4 in four years) and Denison (43-10-4 in three years) prior to coming to Lexington.

The Wildcats lead the series 12-5-1 after winning the past four matchups by the score of 2-0 over the Cardinals. The last time the Cardinals defeated Kentucky in Lexington was on Sept. 3, 2006 with a 2-1 double overtime win.
