
Women's Soccer Plays Two on the Road This Weekend

Cardinals travel to UAB and Ole Miss
LOUISVILLE, KY. - The University of Louisville women's soccer team will be back in action this weekend as they make a road trip down south for two matches. On Friday the Cardinals will face UAB at 6:30 p.m. EST before facing Ole Miss on Sunday afternoon at 1 p.m. EST.
Louisville enters the weekend with an overall record of 2-2-1, coming off a 2-0 win over Southeast Missouri State on Monday evening at Lynn Stadium. Sophomores Shelby Cohen and Alison Price both scored their first goals of the season and junior goalkeeper Paige Brown recorded her first shutout of the season. For the year, seven Cardinals have scored a goal while senior Rachel Avant leads the team with two assists. Junior goalkeepers, Paige Brown and Taylor Bucklin, have both seen time in goal with the two combining for 16 saves. Brown has started the last three for the Cardinals and owns a 0.93 goals against average.
Head coach Karen Ferguson-Dayes is in her 16th season with the Cardinals. She has guided Louisville to four NCAA Tournament appearances, including a Sweet 16 appearance in 2011.
SCOUTING UAB
UAB enters Friday's matchup with an overall record of 1-3 and is currently on a three-game losing streak after winning their season opener. On Sunday, UAB fell 3-1 to Coastal Carolina.
Kasey Johnson leads the Blazers with two goals while Jessica Do, Marin Carter, and Alanna Dineen each have scored a goal. Keepers Kelsey Daughtery and Angelica Jimenez have split time in goal with the two of them combining to record nine saves.
Harold Warren is in his fifth year as the head soccer coach at UAB. Warren currently owns a 24-46-5 record after four years with the Blazers.
THE SERIES
The Blazers lead the series with the Cardinals 7-2 with the last four matchups being shutouts. The Blazers defeated the Cardinals 1-0 in 2005. Louisville's last victory against UAB was in 2004 when they snapped a six game losing streak with a 1-0 win at UAB.
SCOUTING OLE MISS
Ole Miss enters the weekend with an overall record of 4-0-2. The Rebels will face Kentucky on Friday night before wrapping up their seven game homestand when they host the Cardinals on Sunday afternoon. The Rebels are coming off a 1-0 victory over Little Rock when freshman forward Cece Kizer scored the game-winning goal six minutes into overtime for the victory.
Reigning SEC Freshman of the Week Kizer leads the Rebels and the SEC with six goals on the season. Junior Addie Forbus adds three goals and assist for seven points while junior Danielle Gray also adds seven points (two goals and three assists). Redshirt freshman keeper Marnie Merritt boasts a 0.50 goals against average and has 11 saves on the season.
Matt Mott is in his sixth season as the head soccer coach at Ole Miss. Mott currently owns a 52-40-12 record through five years at the school.

The Cardinals and Rebels will meet for the second time in history this weekend. The only time the Cardinals and Rebels met previously was the 2014 season opener and first game ever play at Dr. Mark and Cindy Lynn Stadium. The Cardinals took a 1-0 victory behind a goal in the 57th minute.
