
USWNT Coach Jill Ellis Will Attend Washington Match

USA Women's National Soccer Team head coach Jill Ellis will appear at the University of Louisville women's soccer game against Washington at 1 p.m. August 23 at Lynn Stadium.

"The World Cup games captured the hearts and attention of many and we want to pay tribute to her because of the impact they have made not only in our city but across the world. I encourage the Louisville Soccer community to take advantage of this once in a lifetime opportunity to honor our Women's National team and come out and show your support for Women's soccer! Please join us in a post-game clinic where Jill will be making an appearance."
Following the match the U of L women's soccer team will host a free clinic featuring special guest USWNT head coach Jill Ellis open to any and all entrants ages 6-13 with proof of game ticket. The first 200 kids to check in at the table located on the terrace will receive wristband with game ticket in hand and must sign a waiver to participate in the clinic. The 45 minute clinic will begin after a brief cooling off period following the match. Following the clinic, coach Jill Ellis will sign autographs on the terrace for 45 minutes. There will be a one item limit for autographs.
Those participating in the clinic must bring tennis shoes, no cleats will be allowed on the field. Parents are not allowed on the field during the clinic but can watch from the stands.
Also at the game, there will be auction items - Official Replica World Cup ball, 3 Star USA Women's Replica World Cup Jersey and World Champions T-Shirt all signed by coach Jill Ellis at the entrance. Raffle tickets will be sold for $10 each item. Winners will be announced during the game.
Ellis has been the head coach of the United States Women's National Soccer Team and a development director of the United States Soccer Federation, overseeing the national youth team's development program since 2014. She led the United States Women's National Soccer Team to the World Cup. Prior to her tenure at USA Soccer, she was the head at Illinois women's soccer program from 1997--1999. In 1998, she brought the Fighting Illini to a 12--8 record and a first-ever Big Ten Tournament berth. Ellis led UCLA to eight NCAA Final Fours, including seven in a row from 2003-2009, and won six straight Pacific-12 Conference titles from 2003-2008. She finished her time in Westwood with a record of 229--45--14. She was the 2000 NSCAA National Coach of the Year after leading the Bruins to the NCAA Final in just her second season as head coach. In 14 years as a head coach, she has an all-time collegiate coaching record of 248--63--14.She also did stints as an assistant coach at Maryland (1994--96), Virginia (1996--97), and at NC State (1988--90). As an assistant coach at N.C. State, Ellis helped the NC State win the 1988 Atlantic Coast Conference title and a make a NCAA Final Four appearance.
2015 Louisville Soccer Season Ticket Information
Season tickets for Louisville's second season at Dr. Mark and Cindy Lynn Stadium are now available. To purchase your tickets for the 2015 soccer season, please call the Louisville Cardinals Ticket Office at (502) 852-0120 or (502) 852-5151. Ticket prices for the 2015 season will remain the same as the inaugural season and will start as low as $45. Season tickets for 2015 include every regular season home match for both the men's and women's soccer programs.
Single match tickets are also now on sale through the Louisville Cardinals Ticket Office. Reserved chairback tickets are set at $12 for adults and $6 for youth. Fans can purchase online through www.ticketmaster.com, by phone at (502) 852-5151 or in-person at the Louisville Cardinals Ticket Office located at Gate 2 at Papa John's Cardinal Stadium. Tickets can also be purchased on match days at Lynn Stadium starting one hour prior to kickoff.
