Women's Soccer Announces 2015 Schedule
May 14, 2015 | Women's Soccer
The Louisville women's soccer team announced its 2015 schedule, highlighted by five participants in the 2014 NCAA Tournament, including two College Cup participants. The Cardinals will host the reigning national champion, Florida State in Dr. Mark and Cindy Lynn Stadium for the 2015 season.
Coming off its inaugural season in the ACC, the Cardinals will face another challenging schedule. Louisville's home slate features games against NCAA participants Washington, North Carolina, and national champion Florida State.
"Our 2015 schedule is once again very challenging," said head coach Karen Ferguson-Dayes. "We pride ourselves on playing a tremendous nonconference schedule as we feel it helps prepare us for the rigors of the very prestigious ACC Conference as well as the NCAA Tournament. We have an amazing 10 game ACC schedule featuring a stretch in October where we will host UNC, Duke and defending National Champion Florida State, all at Lynn Stadium- the nicest college soccer facility in the country. Our first year in the ACC allowed us to gain valuable experience that we will look to build on in 2015. We are excited for the challenges that we will face."
Following two exhibition games at Northern Kentucky on Aug. 12 and at home against Indiana on Aug. 16, the Cardinals will open the 2015 season in Dr. Mark and Cindy Lynn Stadium on Friday Aug. 21 against Wright State at 7:30 p.m. On Sunday, Aug. 23 they will host the Washington Huskies at 1:00 p.m.
The Cardinals will then play two games on the road at Kent State on Aug. 28 and at Kentucky on Sept. 4. Louisville will return home on Sunday, Sept. 6 to host Southeast Missouri State at 7:30 p.m. The Cardinal will then return to the road for a three game stint at UAB on Sept. 11 and at Ole Miss on Sept. 13. Louisville will begin ACC play at Boston College on Sunday, Sept. 20.
Louisville will begin home play in the ACC, arguably the toughest conference in the nation, on Thursday Sept. 24 as they host Miami at 7:00 p.m. The Cardinals will then host Pittsburgh on Sunday, Sept. 27 at 1:00 p.m. They will wrap a three game home stand with a nonconference game against Morehead State on Thursday, Oct. 1 at 7:00 p.m.
The Cardinals will then travel to Syracuse on Sunday, Oct. 4 at 2:00 p.m. Louisville returns home for another three game home stand, starting with North Carolina on Thursday, Oct. 8 at 7:00 p.m. They will then host Duke on Sunday, Oct. 11 at 1:00 p.m.
Louisville will then face back-to-back College Cup participants, beginning with Florida State on Saturday, Oct. 17 at Dr. Mark and Cindy Lynn Stadium at 7:00 p.m. They will then travel to Virginia to face the Cavaliers on Thursday, Oct. 22. The Cardinals will continue on to NC State on Sunday, Oct. 25. The Cardinals will wrap up the regular season at Wake Forest on Saturday, Oct. 31 at 7:00 p.m.
The top four teams will advance to the ACC Championship, held Nov. 6-8.
