
Women's Soccer Adds Two Players

Louisville, Ky. - University of Louisville women's soccer head coach Karen Ferguson-Dayes has announced two additions to the 2015 recruiting class. Alex Jackson and Tina Marolt will play next season for the Cardinals and add depth to the roster for the program's second season in the ACC.
"We are happy to add two additional players to our 2015 recruiting class in Tina Marolt and Alex Jackson," said Ferguson-Dayes.
A native of Slovenia, Marolt brings extensive international experience to the Cards' roster. She currently serves as the captain of the U19 Slovenian National Team, as well as a member of the Slovenian Senior Women's National Team. Most recently, she played in the UEFA U19 Women's Championship, as well as the 2015 World Cup Qualifications in Europe with the Senior Women's National Team. In 2014, she earned her first cap as a member of the A team and played against both Ireland and Russia during World Cup qualifications. She also previously played for the U17 Slovenian National Team for two years and served as captain for one year.
"Tina is from Slovenia and is currently with the National team system there," said Ferguson-Dayes. "She has wonderful international experience and will bring a tactical sophistication as well as the ability to help us keep possession through midfield. We are excited about the addition of Tina and look forward to her arrival to campus."
Jackson hails from Greensboro, N.C., where she currently plays for Northern Guilford High School. She was named team captain for the 2015 season has scored 11 goals and added 23 assists in 2014-15. She was previously named to the all-conference, all-area, and all-region teams for 2013-14 after leading the conference in assists. Jackson has also excelled academically and was named academic all-conference from 2011-14. Outside of high school play, she has served as her club team captain since 2011 and was on the ODP region team from 2011-13
"Alex was a player who we invited to our Winter Elite camps and in very little time proved she had value to our program," added Ferguson-Dayes. "We were thrilled to learn that she was interested in attending Louisville because she will provide much needed depth for us at both the center of the back as well as in midfield."
Marolt and Jackson will join Jill Vetere and Gabrielle Vincent in the Cards' 2015 recruiting class.
