
No. 17 Volleyball Hosts Clemson and Georgia Tech in ACC Home Finale

Senior Day will honor Fairs, George and McVey on Sunday
The No. 17 University of Louisville volleyball team returns to the KFC Yum! Center for their final two home matches of the regular season with a pair of televised matches. The Cards will face Clemson on Friday at 7 p.m. before hosting Georgia Tech on Sunday afternoon at 2 p.m. Seniors Katie George, Erin Fairs, and Roxanne McVey will be recognized as part of the Senior Day festivities before Sunday's match against Georgia Tech.
The Cardinals moved up five spots to No. 17 in the latest AVCA Coaches Poll after picking up two crucial road victories against Miami and No. 20 Florida State last weekend. The Cardinals are ranked No. 13 in the latest RPI rankings.
Louisville enters the week with a 21-5 overall record and a 15-1 record in conference play after defeating Miami and No. 20 Florida State last weekend. Against Miami, Tess Clark hit .462 and had 15 kills with 5 blocks to lead the Cards to a 25-20, 25-22, 23-25, 25-23 victory over the Hurricanes. In the match overall, Louisville had 61 kills and 14 blocks to hand the Hurricanes their first home loss of the season. Janelle Jenkins had 12 kills while Erin Fairs and Maggie DeJong added 10 apiece. Katie George had a match-high 53 assists and Molly Sauer had a game-high 25 digs. Against No. 20 Florida State, Erin Fairs posted a double-double with 16 kills and 11 digs while Tess Clark added 14 kills and four blocks to lead the Cards to a 21-25, 26-24, 18-25, 28-26, 15-9 thriller over the Seminoles. The victory over the Seminoles was the Cardinals' first victory over a ranked opponent this season and also handed the Seminoles their first home loss of the season. Janelle Jenkins had a double-double with 13 kills and 10 digs while adding five blocks. Katie George had a match-high 55 assists while Molly Sauer had a match-high 19 digs.
On the season, Louisville ranks first in the conference and eighth in the nation with 14.56 kills per set with senior outside hitter Erin Fairs leading the Cardinal attack with 372 kills and averaging 3.88 kills per set, which is fourth in the conference. Junior outside hitter Janelle Jenkins adds 298 kills while sophomore middle blocker Tess Clark adds 214 kills and boasts a team-high 97 blocks. Clark also leads the ACC and is seventh in the nation with a .434 attack percentage. Senior setter Katie George has dished out 1150 assists on the season and is ranked fifth in the nation while leading the ACC with an average of 11.98 assists per set. George is second on the team with 260 digs. Louisville is second in the ACC with 16.59 digs per set. Freshman libero Molly Sauer has 438 digs (4.56 digs per set) and leads the team with 27 aces. As a team, Louisville holds opponents to a .171 hitting percentage, which is third-best in the conference.
First up for the Cardinals this weekend is Clemson on Friday night at 7 p.m. The Tigers enter the weekend with a 6-22 overall record and 1-15 record in ACC play after picking up their first conference victory with a 3-1 victory at Georgia Tech before falling to Virginia 3-1 last weekend. The Tigers offense is led by junior outside hitter Leah Perri, who has 370 kills and averages 3.70 kills per set. Freshman outside hitter Kailey Harvell is second on the team with 53 kills. Freshman middle blocker Megan McGinley is third on the team with 125 kills and boasts a team-high 74 blocks. Junior outside hitter Sydney Moseley adds 121 kills and is third on the team with 190 digs. Sophomore setter Kate Federico sets up the offense and has 760 assists along with 222 digs. Libero Keelie Arneson has a team-high 501 digs and has an ACC-best 5.11 digs per set average.
