A Family Affair Tonight in Lynn Stadium
September 05, 2014 | Women's Soccer
Louisville, Ky. - Today's game against Kentucky at 6:00 p.m. will have a special family meaning to it for freshman Chatham DeProspo. Playing in Lynn Stadium will always hold a special place in DeProspo's life after scoring the first goal in the stadium last week. But this week is also special because she is playing in the match before her brother takes on the Cardinals on the men's side.
DeProspo's brother Atticus DeProspo is a senior midfielder for the Cornell men's soccer team. The Louisville men's team will face Cornell in the second game of a double header tonight at 8:30 p.m. He was a key contributor in the Big Red midfield as a junior, playing in all but one game on the season and earning 14 starts.
Chatham has made an immediate impact on the Cardinals so far this season. She ranks second on the team in scoring with one goal and one assist for three points. She went down in history last week scoring the game-winning goal in the Dr. Mark and Cindy Lynn Stadium debut.
"I don't really know how to put it into words," said Chatham in the postgame press conference. "But it's probably the best feeling I've had in a long time. Coach believed in us. She always told us just to focus on the moment, focus on the ball, so everything around me was irrelevant at the time. I just kept my mind on getting the ball in the net. It was the best feeling I've had in a long time."
Tonight Chatham and family will also share in another great experience, playing in front of all the family members in the stands. It will definitely be a family affair tonight at the double header in Dr. Mark and Cindy Lynn Stadium.
