
Women's Soccer Hosts Kentucky and Miami(OH) This Weekend

Louisville, Ky. - The University of Louisville women's soccer team will host a pair of matches this weekend in Dr. Mark and Cindy Lynn Stadium. The Cardinals will host in state rival Kentucky on Friday night at 6:00 p.m. and Miami(OH) on Sunday at 1:00 p.m. Both matches will be streamed live on CardsTV.
Louisville is coming off a big home win against Ole Miss, defeating the Rebels 1-0 in front of a record crowd of 5,100 inaugural match at the new the Dr. Mark and Cindy Lynn Stadium. Freshman Chatham DeProspo scored the Cardinals' lone goal in the 56th minute off a cross from Kari Weinland. Despite being pressed in the second half, the Cardinal defense held tight for the first shutout of the season.
The Cardinals enter the match with a 2-1-0 record. Sophomore Paige Brown leads the Cardinals between the posts with a 1.00 goals against average. Brown also has collected five saves and has one shutout on the season. Freshman Isabella Habuda leads the Cardinals in scoring with two goals for four points. DeProspo is second on the team with a goal and an assist for three points.
The Kentucky Wildcats enter the matchup coming off of a 3-0 win at home over Ohio University on Aug. 31. The Wildcats' enter the match with an overall record of 3-1-0. Kentucky's lone loss was 4-1 defeat by Washington on Aug. 22. Against Ohio, sophomore Jade Klump scored Kentucky's first goal in the first half. In the second half, sophomore Alex Carter and junior Courtney Raetzman each scored a goal.
So far this season, the Wildcats are averaging 2.8 goals and 9.3 corner kicks per game. Taylor Braun has started all four games in goal for the Wildcats. She has a 1.29 goals against average and collected four saves so far this season. Arin Gilliland leads the Wildcats in scoring with three goals and four assists for 10 points.
Kentucky leads the series against the Cardinals 11-5-1. In the last meeting, Kentucky defeated Louisville 2-0 in Lexington last season. Kentucky has won three consecutive matches against the Cardinals. The last Louisville win was on Sept. 9, 2010 with a 2-0 victory in Cardinal Park.
The Miami Redhawks are coming off a 3-1 loss at Northwestern on Sunday. The Redhawks enter the match with an overall record of 2-1-0. The Redhawks started the season with 1-0 wins over Purdue and Butler before falling to Northwestern. Haley Walter scored the Redhawks' lone goal against Northwestern in the 75th minute.
So far this season the Redhawks are averaging 1.0 goals and 4.6 corners per game. Danielle Wiseman has started all three games in goal for Miami. She has a 1.00 goals against average while collecting 11 saves on the year. Walter and Kat Zalar lead the team with one goal apiece for two points.
Louisville holds a slight 5-4 advantage in the series with Miami. Last year the Cardinals escaped Oxford with a 3-2 win in overtime. The Cardinals have won five straight against the Redhawks.

Single game tickets for Louisville's highly anticipated debut season at Dr. Mark and Cindy Lynn Stadium and in the Atlantic Coast Conference are available for purchase through the UofL Ticket Office. Tickets for each of the Cardinals' first two matches on Friday, Aug. 29 against Ole Miss (6 p.m., ET) and on Friday, Sept. 5 against Kentucky (6 p.m.) can be purchased online here through My Cardinal Account. Ticket prices are $12 for reserved chairback seats (preferred seating) and $9 for general admission berm and bleacher seats. On both Aug. 29 and Sept. 5, the men's games will be preceded by women's games and tickets will provide admission to both matches each day.
Single game tickets for each of the Cardinals' 10 regular season matches at Dr. Mark and Cindy Lynn Stadium this fall are currently on sale and can be purchased in person through the UofL Ticket Office at Gate 2 of Papa John's Cardinal Stadium.
