LOUISVILLE, Ky. - The Louisville women's soccer team continued its spring training season with a 1-0 win over Ole Miss last Sunday at Cardinal Park.
Junior Charlyn Corral scored the game-winner in the 28th minute with her left foot. As she was beating a defender to the end line, she turned at a difficult angle and bent the ball into the back of the net as the goalkeeper missed on a diving attempt at the perfectly placed shot. Chloe Kiefer played all 90 minutes between the posts and recorded her first shutout of the spring season.
"In the first half, I thought we were having trouble connecting our passes. Our ideas were there, but technically we were not sharp," said Louisville head coach Karen Ferguson-Dayes. "In the second half, we were able to put some tactical ideas together along with more technical precision and we were able to have much better possession and create better chances in the final third. I thought Nicole Mitchell was exceptional today, as was Rachel Melhado."
Louisville continues its spring season at home this weekend with two games at Cardinal Park. On Friday, the Cardinals host Indiana at 7 p.m., ET, while on Sunday, they play Cincinnati at noon. Admission is free for all Louisville spring games.
