COLUMBUS, Ohio - The Louisville women's soccer team kicked off the spring training season last Saturday with a 1-0 loss at Ohio State inside the Woody Hayes Athletic Center.
Louisville controlled its share of the possession in the first half and was able to adjust with some tactical changes in the second half to help create more scoring chances. While the Cardinals created some quality chances, they were not able to convert and Ohio State's Caroline Murray was able to finish from 15 yards out in the 51st minute for the only goal of the match.
"I was very happy with our ability to keep the ball and how our back line was able to start our attack and find a way to connect some penetrative options," said Louisville women's soccer head coach Karen Ferguson-Dayes following the match. "We have worked on them getting more involved in practice and they responded very well. Unfortunately, we conceded a very uncharacteristic goal and we weren't able to find the back of the net."
Louisville returns to action on Sunday, April 7 at 1 p.m., ET against Ole Miss at Cardinal Park and admission is free.
