
Road Games at UK Next for Women's Soccer

LOUISVILLE, Ky. - The Louisville women's soccer team will take to the road this weekend for the Tropical Smoothie Invitational in Lexington, Ky., where the Cardinals will face rival Kentucky on Friday and Butler on Sunday.
U of L will open its weekend against the host Wildcats at 7:30 p.m., ET on Friday at the UK Soccer Complex. The Cardinals will close the event at noon on Sunday against Butler in a neutral-site contest. Live scoring for the weekend's games will be available through Gametracker at UofLSports.com.
Louisville enters the weekend at 1-3-1 overall following a pair of home losses last weekend at the Courtyard by Marriott Louisville Airport Cardinal Classic. The Cardinals lost 3-0 to visiting Baylor on Friday before dropping a tough 1-0 decision in overtime to Central Michigan on Sunday.
Friday's game will be the 15th meeting all-time between Louisville and Kentucky with the Cardinals trailing 5-8-1 overall. Last season, U of L earned 2-0 victory over the Wildcats at Cardinal Park in front of a national TV audience on FOX Soccer Channel.
UK enters the weekend at 5-0-0 overall after earning wins over Central Michigan (2-1, OT) and Baylor (2-1) last weekend in Louisville. After earning a 3-0 win over Oakland University to open their season, the Wildcats have won each of their last four games by a 2-1 score.
Sunday's game will be the 10th meeting all-time between the Cardinals and Butler with U of L holding a 5-3-1 advantage. Louisville has won five straight in the series, including a 2-1 win over the Bulldogs in their last meeting on Sept. 20, 2009 in Indianapolis.
Butler, which will play Southeast Missouri on Friday in Lexington, enters the weekend at 4-2 overall after wins last weekend over Eastern Michigan (2-1) and Eastern Illinois (3-2). The Bulldogs also have wins over Indiana State and Madonna and losses to Oregon State and Indiana.
Following this weekend's action, the Cardinals will open BIG EAST Conference play on Sept. 16 at Notre Dame (5 p.m., ET) before hosting DePaul on Sept. 18 at 1 p.m., at Cardinal Park.
