LOUISVILLE, Ky. - The University of Louisville women's soccer team will open its 2011 season on the road at in-state foe Eastern Kentucky on Friday at 5 p.m., ET at EKU Soccer Field in Richmond.
This will be the fifth meeting all-time between the Cardinals and Colonels with U of L holding a 4-0 advantage overall. Last year, Louisville opened its season with a 4-1 victory over EKU at Cardinal Park. Friday's game will be the first ever meeting between the two schools in Richmond. Live stats for the game will available through EKU at http://www.sidearmstats.com/eku/wsoc/index.htm.
Louisville head coach Karen Ferguson-Dayes enters her 12th season with the Cardinals, who return eight starters from last year's squad (10-9 record in 2010). U of L is led by sophomore forward and 2010 BIG EAST Rookie of the Year Christine Exeter, who scored a team-leading seven goals and 16 points last season.
Following the EKU game, the Cardinals will remain on the road at Toledo on Aug. 26 at 5:30 p.m., ET before hosting Illinois on Sunday, Aug. 28 at 1 p.m., in the home-opener at Cardinal Park.
