Sophomore forward Christine Exeter of the Louisville women's soccer team was named this week to the National Top 100 players list released by TopDrawerSoccer.com.
A native of Pickering, Ont., Exeter was ranked 69th on the list, which includes sophomore, juniors and seniors. Exeter was one of 16 players from the BIG EAST Conference on the list of 100.
"Our team and coaching staff are all very proud of Christine for being named one of the top 100 collegiate players by TopDrawerSoccer," said Louisville head coach Karen Ferguson-Dayes. "She had a fantastic freshman year and we know she will be just as dangerous again this year. We are excited about the upcoming season and can not wait to get started this Friday at Eastern Kentucky University."
The 2010 BIG EAST Rookie of the Year, Exeter led the Cardinals with seven goals and 16 points as a freshman. She had three game-winning goals and finished with a pair of two-goal performances. Her seven goals in 2010 were the most for a Louisville player since Jamie Craft's nine goals in 2006 and the most for a Cardinal freshman since Craft scored eight goals in 2003.
Up next, Louisville will open the 2011 regular season on the road at Eastern Kentucky on Friday at 5 p.m., ET. The Cardinals' regular-season home-opener is set for Sunday, Aug. 28 at 1 p.m., against Illinois.
