- Cardinal starters have allowed just two earned runs in their past 27.1 innings (0.66 ERA).

- The Cardinals have allowed 18 runs so far in 2011, the lowest total in school history for the first 10 games of a season.
- Louisville has posted a combined ERA of 1.46 in its last eight wins over Kent State, allowing the Golden Flashes just 17 runs in those games. The Cardinals have defeated Kent State in eight of the last 11 matchups.
- Louisville played in its first 1-0 game since defeating Connecticut by that score on March 26 of last season. It was the Cards' first 1-0 game against a non-conference opponent since March 1, 2008 (1-0 loss to the Citadel in 10 innings) and its first 1-0 victory over a non-league foe since March 9, 2003 (versus Illinois).
- U of L managed just three hits in the game, its fewest in a victory since May 16, 2008, when the Cards defeated Rutgers 4-3 on only two hits.
- The shutout was already the third this season for the Cards (the most for a Dan McDonnell-coached Louisville club is seven, in 2007).
- All 10 games for Louisville this season have taken no longer than 2:39 to complete (2:10 on Sunday).
- McDonnell improves to 18-5 against MAC teams since taking over the Louisville program.

- Sophomore Zak Wasserman stole the first base of his career on his first career attempt in the second inning of Sunday's contest.
- Relief pitcher Chad Green extended his career-opening scoreless streak from the mound to 7.1 innings, tossing 2.2 innings after taking over for Nastold in the sixth on Sunday.
- Freshman Jeff Thompson also worked another scoreless outing, getting an out in the ninth inning before giving way to Travis Tingle, who retired the only batter he faced to pick up the save. Thompson now has 3.1 scoreless innings over three career relief outings.
- The save for Tingle was the first of his collegiate career, including his two seasons at Cleveland State C.C.
