OXFORD, Ohio - Mallory Lampson had the game-tying goal in the second half and added an assist on the first goal as the University of Louisville played Miami to a 2-2 tie Sunday.
"Overall it was a solid performance, but certainly one in which we need to grow from," Head Coach Karen Ferguson said.
"There were moments where we looked really good from a possession standpoint and there were moments where we gave the ball away under no pressure at all. We have to find more consistency and with the way the spring has been going so far, I have no doubt that we will get sharper with each remaining spring game."
The Cards opened the scoring when Lampson got endline and played a ball back to a wide open Caley Egan, who one time finished it for the 1-0 lead.
Miami scored the equalizer off of a set piece that the Cardinals inadvertently cleared to a RedHawk player at the top of the 18.
Miami took a 2-1 lead before the end of the half when they scored off of a miscommunication between the Louisville defenders and goalkeeper. What should have been a routine pass back to the Cardinal keeper lead to a failed clearance and ultimately Miami's second goal.
Louisville controlled most of the play in the second half and seemed to settle in to a better possession rhythm which ultimately allowed them the opportunity to score the equalizer.
Off of a throw in, Lindsay Boling laid a one time ball off to Lampson who eluded two defenders and found herself about 25 yards from goal where she unleashed a shot with her left foot in to the far corner of the goal.
The Cardinals continued to press for the winner but came up short.
Louisville will host Dayton at Cardinal Park on April 5 and Kentucky on April 12. Both matches are slated to start at 1:00 p.m. ET.
