
Women's Soccer Inks Six

LOUISVILLE, Ky. - The University of Louisville women's soccer team has signed six standout high school student athletes to letters of intent. The group will enroll at UofL in the fall of 2008 and be eligible to compete for the Cardinals as they bid for a third consecutive trip to the NCAA.
Two of the signees were NSCAA High School All-Americans and three earned NSCAA All-Region honors.
Head Coach Karen Ferguson, the winningest coach in school history, will embark upon her ninth season at the helm of the Cardinals.
"We are extremely excited to add these six women to our Cardinal Soccer family."
"There is a wonderful mix of speed, athleticism, soccer savvy and experience at a high level so we are confident that this class will make an immediate impact and help us in our quest for a 3rd straight NCAA appearance," Ferguson added.
Louisville tied a school record with 13 wins last season, advancing to the BIG EAST semifinals and boasted a school record five members of the BIG EAST All-Conference teams, and athletic and academic All-American and two players that competed in their respective national team programs.

Ashley Auld

Noblesville Indiana/Noblesville HS
An NSCAA High School All-American for the Millers, earning four letters at forward. Was named Gatorade and IHSCA Indiana Player of the Year, capping her prep career with 16 goals and 11 assists. Selected All-District three times, Academic All-State twice and 2007 All-North Player of the Year, Indy Star Super Team Player of the Year and First Team All-State. Scored 44 goals and added 28 assists in her four season of high school soccer. Competed for the FC Pride Twisters for eight seasons and Carmel United Crusaders for two seasons on the club level.
Caitlin Beck

Fort Thomas, Kentucky/Highlands HS
Selected to the 2007 NSCAA/adidas Girls High School All-America Team. Earned NKY Defensive Player of the Year as a junior and a senior and was a three-time First Team All-State Selection. A three-time NSCAA All-Region Team member and twice the KY East Player of the Year. Won back-to-back state titles with the Bluebirds, helping set a state record with 20 shutouts her sophomore and junior seasons. Scored eight goals as a senior. A four-time Club State champion while playing for the Cincinnati Classics Hammer. Named the Greater Cincinnati-Northern Kentucky Soccer Sportswoman of the Year her sophomore season. An academic all-star and member of the National Honor Society. Also earned four letters in track and field as a middle distance runner.
Abbey Hirshenberger

New Lenox, Illinois/Lincoln-Way Central HS
A member of the 2007 Illinois All-State first team, also earning All-Conference honors entering her senior season with the Knights. Had a goal and an assist to help her team to a 2007 IHSA Class AA state semifinal. Notched 16 goals and 20 assists in 28 games as a junior. A member of the Chicago Magic 2005 and 2006 SYL North Am Champions, earning the Team Award in '00, '01 and '05. Was in the Region 2 ODP pool in 2004. Competed in the 2007 Chicago marathon.
Jennifer Jones

Louisville, Kentucky/Assumption HS
Three time All-State honoree, a knee injury forced her to miss her senior season with the Rockets. A three-time member of the District 13 All-Tournament Team. Won the Best First Year Player award as a freshman, Offensive MVP here sophomore season and MVP as a junior. A two-year team captain. Competed for six seasons with the Mockingbird Valley Boys Club Team, five seasons with the girls team and two years with Javanon. A two-year member of the Kentucky ODP. A two-year letterwinner in basketball. Her grandmother (field hockey and basketball '51-54) and aunt (field hockey '78-79) both competed as student athletes at UofL.
Chloe Kiefer

Whitefish Bay, Wisconsin/Divine Saviour
A 2007 NSCAA All-Region Selection, she earned First Team All-State, All-Conference and All-Area as a junior last season. Was Greater Metro Conference Player of the Year while competing at the same high school that produced current Cardinal All-BIG EAST performer Shannon Smyth. Posted a minuscule 0.37 GAA in 2007 and 0.44 her sophomore season, earning First Team All-Greater Metro Conference, All-Area and Honorable Mention All-State. Named Second Team All-Conference as a freshman. A six-time state champion with FC Milwaukee. Also a two-year letterwinner in basketball, she is third in school history in three-pointers.
Giselle Mangal

Mississauga, Ontario/St. Joan of Arc
Won four letters in basketball and two in track and field, becoming the first member of her high school to advance to the Ontario Track and Field finals, making the cut in the 200m. Was 2005 High School Female Athlete of the Year and T & F MVP. Competed for the Mississauga Dixie Saints for four years in the OYSL, making the Ontario Cup finals in '04 and '06. A member of the Score at the Shore in North Carolina 2006 champions.
