WALTHAM, Mass. - Jamie Craft, the only player in University of Louisville women's soccer history to be named All-Conference all four seasons, has signed a professional contract to continue her soccer career with the W-League Boston Renegades.
"I am very excited that Jamie has chosen to play in Boston for a fantastic organization and a wonderful coach in Peter Bradley," stated U of L Head Coach Karen Ferguson.
"I played for the same club and for Peter back in the day and I know he will challenge Jamie to be a better player and certainly prepare her for her ultimate goal of playing in the women's league once it begins again in 2008."
Craft was just the second All-American in school history, earning NSCAA/adidas honors following the 2006 season.
She is a seven-time Soccer Buzz and NSCAA All-Region honoree, earning First Team honors on four occasions. She finished her career second in goals (42) and points (99), first in shots (229) and tied for first in games played (77) at U of L.
Craft was 2003 C-USA Freshman of the Year, has twice earned conference player of the week and was twice a member of the Soccer Buzz National Elite Team.
Craft lead the team in goals and points each of her four seasons - the only player in Cardinal history to do so. Of her 42 career goals, 22 came in conference games and 15 of them were game winners.
In 2006 U of L earned its first NCAA bid in the 22-year history of Cardinal soccer.
The most successful season in University of Louisville women's soccer history concluded with the team ranking 24th in the final NSCAA/adidas poll. The Cards posted a school record 13 wins was third in the region in the final polls.
Craft was part of a senior class that concluded their career with 15 school records, including career wins with 43 during their four-year stay.
"We are delighted to land a player of Jamie's caliber," said MPS Director of Coaching, Peter Bradley. "She has an outstanding soccer resume and will be a huge part of our drive towards reclaiming the National Championship."
"Jamie certainly has an eye for goal and her predatory instincts will be invaluable to the Renegades," said Bradley. "She possesses all the attributes for her to be a leading goal scorer in the W-League this season."
The Renegades will open the season against the Western Mass Pioneers on Saturday, May 19.
