LOUISVILLE, Ky. - The University of Louisville women's soccer team improved its spring record to a perfect 3-0 with a 2-0 win over Evansville at Cardinal Park.
"I was very pleased with our overall performance and thought we did some really good things both offensively and defensively," Head Coach Karen Ferguson said.
"This is a great group of kids who are very focused and disciplined and it shows in the way we performed today."
Laura Walker intercepted an Evansville pass in the middle third of field and countered with a great through ball to Shannon Smyth, who shot it wide, but Jen Avila was following the play and finished to put the Cards up 1-0.
Smyth then stripped an Evansville player of the ball, recognized that the Aces keeper was off her line and placed a beautiful shot in to the upper corner of the goal from about 30-35 yards out.
The final match of the spring season will be Saturday, April 7 at 4:00 p.m. ET against Eastern Kentucky in Cardinal Park. Admission is free.
