University of Louisville divers Marianne Bradford, McKenzie Long, Sarah Sandroni, and Robbie Lewis will travel to the NCAA Zone B meet in Athens, Ga. this weekend to compete in the three-day zone meet to earn a spot at the NCAA Championships.
Competition begins Friday at 12 p.m. ET with the women's 1-meter and men's 3-meter. On Saturday, the women compete on 3-meter and the men will contest the 1-meter springboard. The meet concludes on Sunday with the platform competition beginning at 10 a.m.
"This is a good challenge but we are in a good place right now. This group is the largest group we have taken to this meet," said U of L diving coach Mike Zehnder. "We have been practicing all year preparing for this. We have so many more features in our state of the art facility to help us train... we are very optimistic about competing in the most competitive diving zone."
Divers qualify to the NCAA Championships based on their finish at the zone meet. Divers qualify during the year which allows them to advance to the zone meet. It is head-to-head competition and the top 13 men and nine women advance. Due to the competitive region covered by Zone B, the NCAA field will advance the most divers from this southern zone.
