The University of Louisville men's and women's swimming and diving teams travel to Bowling Green to take on intrastate rival Western Kentucky Saturday at 1 p.m. (ET).
The No. 31 ranked women post a 9-2 record entering the meet. WKU's women have lost just once with a 6-1 mark. The U of L men, 3-8, will take on the undefeated Hilltopper men, who are 7-0 for the season.
"The meet with WKU is always competitive, you can expect fireworks," said U of L head coach Arthur Albiero.
The Cardinal women are led by Anna Dishuck, Amanda Henleben, Leslie Van Winkle and Heather Meng. The 200-free-relay team of Dishuck, Liz Halet, Emily Rabe and Melanie Greyling made NCAA B-cut times. Dishuck, Leslie Van Winkle, Halet and Greyling made NCAA B-cut times in the 400-free relay as well. Meng, a defending BIG EAST champion has already posted an NCAA B-cut time in the 100-breast as has Dishuck in the 200-IM. On the men's side, last year's freshman All-American, Vali Preda, has posted a B-cut time in the 100-breast.
U of L divers Sarah Sandroni, Marianne Bradford and Robbie Lewis have been a force on both the 1- and 3-meter springboard. Lewis, known for his clutch performances, set a school record in the 3-meter board and gave U of L the meet in the hard-fought win over Wright State.
The aquatic Cardinals are coming off last weekend's sweep of Wright State at the Ralph Wright Natatorium. The Cardinals will have one more test before the opening day of the BIG EAST Championship Feb. 14 in Long Island, NY. U of L will face nationally ranked BIG EAST rival Notre Dame in the final home meet of the season Feb. 3 in the Ralph Wright Natatorium.
