
Women's Soccer Climbs In Regional Poll

LOUISVILLE, Ky. - The University of Louisville women's soccer team was ranked fifth in the Great Lakes Region in the most recent Soccer Buzz weekly poll, the highest such ranking in school history.
The first regular season NSCAA/adidas National poll will be announced on September 5th. The Cards received votes in the NSCAA Top 25 preseason poll.
After preseason victories at #18 West Virginia and at home against Nebraska, U of L opened the season with a 2-1 overtime victory over Ohio and followed with a 3-0 shutout win at Miami last Sunday, to begin the season 2-0 for the third straight season. The three seasons, under head coach Karen Ferguson who is the winningest coach in school history, are the only three 2-0 starts in Cardinal history.
West Virginia has moved into the #12 spot in the national poll, while Nebraska is 8th in the Central Region.
Louisville will next travel to Lexington for the UK Invitational which will include a match against Wright State on Friday at 5:00 p.m. ET and a Sunday meeting with host and instate rival Kentucky on Sunday at 2:30 in the first regular season meeting between the two since 1996.
The Cards return home on Sunday, September 10 to host Xavier at 1:00 p.m. in Cardinal Park, a match that will be televised on a tape-delayed basis by WHAS-TV and ICN-2.
The following Wednesday Louisville will host Cincinnati in the BIG EAST opener, a match that will be televised live nationally on Fox Soccer. The match is set to begin at 8:00 p.m. ET. in Cardinal Park.
