LOUISVILLE, Ky. - The University of Louisville women's soccer team will host the Canadian National Team at Cardinal Park on Friday, April 7 at 7:30 p.m. ET as part of their spring season.
The match will be preceded by a free clinic open to boys and girls that will take place from 5:30 - 6:30, and will be conducted by the Cardinal men's and women's teams.
"Our spring schedule is one of the toughest we have assembled, because this team is ready to compete at a higher level and achieve our goal of advancing to the NCAA tournament next year," said Head Coach Karen Ferguson.
"We are truly honored to be able to play against some of the best players in the world. This is a very rare and unique experience and I could not pass up the opportunity to play Canada's full national team."
Canada will be training in the US and playing matches against college teams as they prepare for the World Cup in 2007.
"The skill and sophistication on the ball that these women posses is mind boggling and I think it will not only be fantastic for our players to have the opportunity to compete against them, but also for the soccer community to come out and watch a team of this caliber play live."
Louisville will first travel to Bloomington, Indiana for a match against the ASC Eagles on February 25 at 3:00 p.m. ET before matching up with the host Hoosiers at 6:00 that same evening.
The Cards will host Purdue in Cardinal Park on March 25 at 1:00, and IU will come to the Ville on April 1 for a 1:00 p.m. match.
The spring season will conclude in Cincinnati against Vanderbilt on April 15 at 7:00 p.m. ET as one of the feature college games at the Blue Chip Showcase.
The Cardinals were 11-8 last fall, their first season in the BIG EAST.
