Gjini Honored by Soccer Buzz

LOUISVILLE, Ky. - University of Louisville midfielder Monique Gjini has been named to the Soccer Buzz Elite team of the Week after helping the 15th-ranked Cards to three BIG EAST wins last week.

Gjini, a junior from Edmonton, Alberta scored the game winner and added a pair of assists in a 3-0 win over DePaul on Tuesday.

She then sealed a 2-0 win over Syracuse with her fifth goal of the year on Sunday.

Gjini has six assists on the season, tied for the team lead and third on the single season list at U of L. Her 16 career helpers is second in Cardinal history and three off of the school record.

The last Cardinal to be named to the Elite Team was Jamie Craft, who was twice honored during the 2004 season.

Louisville will close out the home portion of the schedule with a pair of BIG EAST matches. Friday night, #16 Villanova visits Cardinal Park at 7:00 and Sunday afternoon at 1:00 U of L will honor four seniors on Senior Day prior to facing Georgetown.
