Swimming and Diving Compete at Miami

The University of Louisville men's and women's swimming and diving teams returned to action after the holiday break at a quad meet at Miami University where the women finished second and the men finished fourth.
Host Miami won the women's meet with 189 points. Louisville followed with 167, Cincinnati at 101 and Kenyon College at 79 to round out the field. Miami also won the men's meet at 159 followed by Cincinnati at 139, Kenyon at 116 and Louisville at 109.
The women started the meet with a win in the first event. Leslie VanWinkle, Johanna Nyysti, Larissa Niehoff and Stephanie Wyatt touched first in the 400-Medley Relay. Other firsts for the women include Melanie Greyling's win in the 200-free just two one hundreths ahead of Cincinnati's Randi Vogel. VanWinkle won the 200-IM with Abby Miller winning the 200-fly. Ashley Jackson added to the Cardinal point total with a win in the 500-free.
Vali Preda paced the men's efforts with a victory in the 200-IM and the 200-breast. Jonathan Farnham added points with a second in the 50-free and a second in the 100-free. Andrei Teudean finished second in the 200-back as another highlight for the men.
