
Cardinal Nine Blanked by Frogs Sunday

FORT WORTH, TX - TCU's Kyle Dahlberg was 3 for 5 with a double, six RBI and two home runs, including a three-run shot in the bottom of the eighth to lift the Horned Frogs to an 11-0 win over the University of Louisville. The game was ended after eight innings by virtue of the ten-run rule, as the Frogs took two of three in the series.
Despite the loss, Louisville has clinched a spot in the C-USA Tournament in Hattiesburg, Mississippi next week, putting the Cards in the tournment each of the ten years it has been held.
TCU (36-16, 19-8 C-USA) designated hitter Matt McGuirk singled home Shelby Ford in the bottom of the first to give the Frogs a 1-0 lead.
Dahlberg's RBI double plated Matt Carpenter in the second for a 2-0 TCU advantage.
A two-run double by Bo Cogbill was followed by a two-run home run by Dahlberg in the bottom of the third to give TCU a 6-0 advantage.
The Frogs added a sac fly by Carpenter and an RBI double by Cogbill in the sixth for an 8-0 lead.
Runners were at the corners with two out in the eighth when Dahlberg's fifth home run ended the game.
Louisville was 0 for 13 with runners on base in the loss, stranding 11.
Chris Cates had two hits, equalling a career-best 11 game hit streak.
Scott Jenkins (1-2) took the loss, lasting just two plus innings, allowing four runs on five hits and four walks, fanning two.
Trystan Magnuson was touched for four runs on six hits and three walks in 3.2 innings to go with two strikeouts, and Jon Harbridge finished up, surrendering three runs on three hits and a walk in two frames. He struck out two.
TCU reliever Chad Underwood (4-2) picked up the win with 3.1 innings of scoreless relief, striking out three, while allowing two hits and a walk.
The Cardinals will finish the regular season with five home games in six days, completing a stretch of eight games in nine days. Monday night Louisville will host Wright State and Evansville will be in town Tuesday night. UAB will close the conference slate with games Thursday, Friday and Saturday.
All games will start at 6:00 p.m. ET, with the exception of Saturday which is a 1:00 first pitch. The Cards will honor eight individuals which are competing in their last home game as a Cardinal in the Saturday match up with the Blazers.
