FORT WORTH, TX - The University of Louisville women's soccer team capped a Conference USA opening weekend road sweep by sweeping the C-USA Player of the Week Awards, as Jamie Craft earned offensive honors and Meredith Miller captured the defensive award.
"This is a fantastic honor for Jamie and Meredith, and the U of L women's soccer team," Cardinal Head Coach Karen Ferguson said.
"While these two definitely stood out statistically, our entire team can certainly share in these awards," added Ferguson.
Craft, a sophomore forward, scored both of the Cardinals' goals over the weekend as Louisville posted 1-0 wins against USF and UAB.
In Friday's match, she found the back of the net in the 52nd minute against the Bulls as U of L earned its first ever victory in Tampa.
She then tallied her fourth game-winner of the season against defending C-USA champion UAB on Sunday.
Craft has scored a career-high nine goals this season in nine game and ranks second in the league standings in points(20), goals(9), and goals per game(1.00).
Miller, a senior goalkeeper posted two shutouts on the weekend.
Miller made five saves, including two in the final 12 minutes, to preserve the win at USF. It was her 10th career shutout, setting a new Cardinal record.
She registered eight saves on Sunday, and now leads the league in goals against average (0.50) and save percentage (.909).
Miller also set a school record with 4,652 career minutes in goal for U of L.
The Cards are 7-2-0 overall, matching last season's win total, including a 5-0 mark on the road. The 2-0 start in C-USA is just the second in school history(1997).
