
Craft Honored By C-USA

IRVING, TX - University of Louisville women's soccer forward Jamie Craft has been named to the 2004 Conference USA Preseason All-Conference Team it was announced Tuesday. "This is a wonderful honor for Jamie and we are very proud of her. Jamie gained valuable experience as a freshman and we expect her to build on her accomplishments from last year in order to be ready to have another successful season," said Head Coach Karen Ferguson. The sophomore from Owings, Maryland is the only underclassman on the team, and earned 2003 Freshman of the Year honors at the conclusion of last season. Craft was also named to the 2003 Great Lakes Region All-Freshman Team and the C-USA Third Team after scoring a team-high eight goals in her initial collegiate campaign, adding four assists for a total of 20 points, also tops on the team. Of her 41 shots, 24 were on goal, as she netted two game winners-both in 1-0 wins for the Cards. Craft started all 18 matches for the Cards last season. She scored five goals in her first six games of the season. The Cards will open the season on Friday with an exhibition match against the University of Nebraska at Cardinal Park at 7:30 p.m. The game is being played in honor of Louisvillian Jenna Cooper who was killed in April while at Nebraska. Admission to the match is free. Louisville will then travel to England for eight days before opening the regular season on the road at Butler on August 27th at 4:00 p.m.
