Women's Soccer Announces Fall Schedule

LOUISVILLE, KY - The University of Louisville women's soccer team has released its 2004 fall schedule, which will include a preseason nine day trip to England from August 14-21.
"This schedule is as challenging as any that I've had at Louisville," noted fifth-year Head Coach Karen Ferguson.
"I think opening preseason in England will get the team in the right mind-set because we will be exposed to one of the most intensive soccer cultures in the world. The teams that we will play while overseas will definitely prepare us for our opponents during the regular season," added Ferguson.
The team plans on four matches while overseas against teams that consist of older women and also a national youth academy (18-19 year old). U of L will be staying in London, Manchester and Durham.
The 2003 Cardinal squad finished 7-9-2 overall with a 2-7-1 mark in Conference USA, the best record since 1996. The team did not feature a single senior.
The team finished the spring season 2-1-2 against college teams, and returns 10 starters from least year's team.
"The schedule for our final season as a member of Conference USA is going to test the team. Last season there was a lot of parity in C-USA and I would expect the same for this fall," said Ferguson.
"Company that with a strong non-conference schedule and I know we will have to be prepared every time we step onto the field. I expect every game we play this fall to be very competitive and that will help us reach our goal of qualifying for the Conference USA tournament in November."
Admission to all games at Cardinal Park is free.
