LOUISVILLE, KY - The University of Louisville women's soccer team will match up with six opponents over the course of a 2004 spring schedule that is headlined by an exhibition game against the defending WUSA champion Washington Freedom at Cardinal Park in Louisville on March 26th at 7:00 p.m.
"Having not graduated any players from last Fall's team, I think this schedule will challenge us and help prepare for upcoming season," said U of L Head Coach Karen Ferguson.
The Cardinals return 19 players from a 2003 team that went 7-9-2.
"We are able to play against very good competition and each game will help us measure our development. Obviously playing the Washington Freedom will be a great event and an experience that the players will never forget," added Ferguson.
A limited number of $15 general admission tickets are available to the public on a first-come, first-served basis for the spring opener against the Freedom. Fans can call 502.852.5151 or 502.852.2095, or print out an order form on www.UofLsports.com to purchase tickets.
The following weekend on Sunday, April 4th, Louisville will play host team Indiana University, Miami(OH) and Marquette in Bloomington. Each game will consist of one 45-minute half.
On April 17th at 5:00 p.m. at Kolping Park in Cincinnati, U of L will face Dayton in the featured college game as part of the Blue Chip Showcase.
"It's an honor to be invited to play in a featured match at the Blue Chip Showcase against Dayton. That event attracts many of the best club teams in the region and we are glad to be involved. These events, along with traveling to Indiana University and finishing at home with Cincinnati, will give the team a good idea of the level we will compete at next fall and in the future," noted Ferguson.
The final spring tune-up will be on April 21st at 8:00 p.m. in Cardinal Park against Cincinnati.
