LOUISVILLE, KY - The University of Louisville women's soccer team completed an undefeated spring season as Lisa Martin and Jenny Starr each scored twice in a 4-2 win over Javanon Soccer Club on Wednesday. With the win, the Cards finish the spring with a 7-0-3 record.
Louisville was down 2-0 early, but settled down and took control scoring four unanswered goals as they cruised to the win.
"Tonight we were missing some key personal on the field which was good because some of our players were asked to step into a different role and I think they responded very well. I'm happy with the win and the fact that we had to battle back from two goals down early showed a lot of composure and determination on our part," noted Head Coach Karen Ferguson.
"Being such a young team I thought it was important for us to see some success this spring. We definitely were successful, but it wasn't easy. We had to work extremely hard for every win and tie. Now the team must come into next fall with the same mindset," added Ferguson.
Freshman Lyndsay Seibert and Sophomore Angie Gangel closed the door in front of the Cardinals goal after allowing two early goals.
The Cards open their season on Sunday, August 31 against Butler. Kickoff is at 1:00 at Cardinal Park.
