
Women's Soccer Earns Academic Award

MISSION, KS - For the second consecutive season, the University of Louisville women's soccer team posted a team grade point average of 3.0 or higher, thereby earning the NSCAA Team Academic Award for the 2002-03 school year.
The Cardinals posted a team GPA of 3.17 for the '02-'03 school year. Under the guidance of fourth-year Head Coach Karen Ferguson, the team was 7-9-2 this past fall, the best record since the 1997 season, and fifth consecutive year the team has improved its record.
Freshman forward Jamie Craft was selected Freshman of the Year in Conference USA, as well as Third-Team All-Conference and All-Freshman Team. The 2003 squad did not feature a single senior.
The Cardinals will be moving into the Big East Conference beginning in the Fall of 2005.
The academic award will be presented at the College Coaches Luncheon on Thursday, Jan. 15, 2004, as part of the 57th Annual NSCAA Convention, to be held in Charlotte, N.C., Jan. 14-18, 2004.
