
Tisdale Named C-USA Co-Pitcher of the Week

LOUISVILLE, KY- Louisville junior Mike Tisdale was named Conference USA Baseball Co-Pitcher of the Week, for the week of February 18th-22nd.
Tisdale was also named the SLAM! Canadian Baseball Player of the Week.
In his second season with the Cardinals, he threw seven innings of five-hit ball, giving up just one run while striking out two in Louisville's season-opening win over Vanderbilt Friday 6-1. He did not allow a walk. It is the third time Tisdale has earned the accolade winning twice last season. He is the first Cardinal to earn C-USA honors three times, and the third Cardinal to earn three weekly conference awards.
Darren Oppel won the Metro Conference Player of the Week award three times from 1991-1993 and Dan Kopriva was named Metro Player of the Week five times in 1991 and 1992.
Tisdale, a 6' 3" right-hander from Peterborough, Ontario was 7-6 last season with a 5.13 ERA in 94.2 innings. He struck out 73 while issuing just 15 walks in tossing four complete games, two of which were shutouts. He joined the team as a transfer from St. Petersburg Community College in Florida last season. His 15 starts last season was the second highest single season total in school history.
Tisdale shared the honor this week with Stephen Castleman of Southern Miss.
Louisville is 2-1 on the season after a weekend series with Vanderbilt. They are scheduled to meet Western Kentucky on Wednesday at 3:00 p.m at Cardinal Stadium, admission is free.
